So will the real Trajan please stand up?
Marcus Ulpius Nerva Traianus, commonly known as Trajan, was actually a Roman Emperor who reigned from AD 98 until his death in AD 117. As a civilian administrator, Trajan is best known for his extensive infrastructure building program, which reshaped the city of Rome and left multiple enduring landmarks such as Trajan's Forum, Trajan's Market and Trajan's Column.
Trajan governed well and without the bloodiness that had marked previous reigns. He freed many people who had been unjustly imprisoned and returned a great deal of confiscated property. His popularity was such that the Roman Senate eventually bestowed upon Trajan the honorific of optimus, meaning "The Best." As an emperor, Trajan's reputation has endured - he is one of the few rulers whose reputation has survived the scrutiny of nineteen centuries of history. Every new emperor after him was honored by the Senate with the prayer felicior Augusto, melior Traiano, meaning "may he be luckier than Augustus and better than Trajan."
Now in the 21st century, Trajan, Inc. strives to be optimus, just as Marcus Traianus did nearly 2,000 years ago. As a client of Trajan, Inc., you can be assured that we will do the job right the first time. We know that quality service is the only way we can achieve the honor of optimus from the ones who really matter, OUR CLIENTS!
